What is ODX (ISO 22901) and how it Facilitates Standardization in Vehicle Diagnostics

In the context of vehicle diagnostics, Open Diagnostics eXchange (ODX) is the behind-the-scene hero of standardization.

Defined in the ISO 22901 standard, ODX is an XML based format for defining the diagnostics specifications. An ODX file contains the services of say, UDS (ISO 14229), that need to be implemented for specific automotive applications.

Such a standardized format helps the stakeholders (OEMs, Suppliers and PES companies) to maintain  uniformity in implementation of vehicle diagnostics solutions.
